Very Inspiring Blogger Award

I’ve been awarded the Very Inspiring Blogger Award by Vikki over at The View Outside, so I’d like to say a very big “Thank You”. I’m going to try to follow the rules, which of course includes nominating other inspiring bloggers. I enjoy being nominated and I think answering the questions are fun, but if it’s not your cup of tea…just know you brighten my day and don’t feel obligated to be a rule follower.

V inspiring blogger

These are the rules :

  1. Display the award logo on your blog.
  2. Link back to the person who nominated you.
  3. State 7 things about yourself.
  4. Nominate other bloggers for this award and link to them.
  5. Notify those bloggers of the nomination and the award’s requirements.

It seems you usually have to share some facts about yourself when you do these awards and I’ve done a few before, so I tried to share some facts I don’t think I’ve shared before. Here are 7 things about me…

  1. In middle school I helped paint a mural I designed on the wall outside of the cafeteria entry way.
  2. Pottery is the only craft I’ve ever found I didn’t like…it makes my hands too dry and you can’t get the clay too wet.
  3. I can finally make really good homemade bread…good enough for making sandwiches. 🙂
  4. I’m from the south, but can’t make hoe cake to save my life.
  5. Of the poems I wrote in high school, the only one which still exists in my possession is titled “To a Dear Deer”.
  6. I’m a hopeless romantic and love to burn scented candles.
  7. I don’t know why, but I get sad when it rains.

Now for the bloggers I’d like to nominate, in no particular order :

There is another blog I’d nominate, but it appears her blog has disappeared.  It’s a writer who has definitely inspired me, so if you’re reading this I hope you know I’m talking about you and please don’t let the voice of others discourage you from writing.

Sweet Treats

Christmas

Christmas

I have a few treats to share today. My sweetest treat is my first official poem has been published at The Barefoot Review in the Winter 2012 issue. I hope you’ll pop over and read it.

I’ve also been nominated for the Beautiful Blogger award from Vikki over at The View Outside blog. Not doing it properly yet, will try to do catch up, but wanted to take time to say “Thank You”. I know some beautiful bloggers I’d like to nominate too.

Another sweet treat, I discovered yesterday over at the Mere Inkling blog, while reading about personal libraries.  There’s an offer to send off for 10 free letterpress bookmarks, just at the cost of an envelope and SASE. You can find out more about the offer over at Peach Farm Studio. It expires soon, requests have to be there by December 31st.

The last sweet treat is the recipe for my now official favorite treat…decadent chocolate meringues. I have to make more as we ate the first batch. 🙂 These are really easy to make. I use my kitchen mixer to whip them up as I’ve never had success whipping egg whites by hand. The mixer makes quick work of it.

Put 2 egg whites, 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar, a pinch of salt, and 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract in the mixer bowl. Beat till soft peaks form, then gradually add in 2 Tbsp. cocoa powder and 1/2 cup of sugar, beating till stiff peaks form. May take about 7 or 8 minutes.

Drop by teaspoonfuls on a baking sheet. I try to swirl it around with the spoon and leave it with a nice pretty peak on top. Bake at 225 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. These last a long time and are great for gift giving to the chocolate lovers in your life.

Blog of the Year 2012 Award

I’m running a little behind, but still wanted to take the time to say “Thank You” to Vikki over at The View Outside. She nominated my blog for Blog of the Year 2012 award. You can pop over to The Thought Palette blog, who created the award, to learn more about the Blog of the Year 2012 Award.

20121203-083745.jpg

I have one gold star, but anyone who is nominated can get nominated again for up to a total of 6 gold stars.

The ‘rules’ for this award are simple:

1 Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012′ Award

2 Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen — there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required — and ‘present’ them with their award.

3 Please include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012′ Award — http://thethoughtpalette.co.uk/our-awards/blog-of-the-year-2012-award/ and include these ‘rules’ in your post (please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)

4 Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them.

5 You can now also join the Facebook group — click ‘like’ on the page above ‘Blog of the Year 2012′ Award Facebook group and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience.

6 As a winner of the award — please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award — and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…

Yes — that’s right — there are stars to collect!

Unlike other awards which you can only add to your blog once — this award is different!

When you begin you will receive the ’1 star’ award — and every time you are given the award by another blog — you can add another star!

There are a total of 6 stars to collect.

Which means that you can check out your favorite blogs — and even if they have already been given the award by someone else — you can still bestow it on them again and help them to reach the maximum 6 stars!

The nominations I’d like to make for the Blog of the Year 2012 Award are these bloggers, who are truly inspiring :

Sunshine Award

I’m very happy Kat Collins nominated this blog for the Sunshine Award.  Thank you!  If you’ve read some of my posts before, you know she’s one of my favorite bloggers about writing.  I just finished reading a post over on her blog about journaling.

I love questions, but then I’m a curiosity type person.  Here are the questions I’m suppose to answer :

1. Who is your favorite philosopher?

I’ll say C.S. Lewis, because much of what I’ve read about his thoughts on life make sense to me.  He was a faithful man and he loved nature.  I’ve enjoyed many post over at Mere Inkling, which have been about his philosophies.

2. What is your favorite number?    3 has always been, because there have been 3 people in my family

3. What is your favorite animal?  cats…still without a doubt…

4. What are your Facebook and Twitter?   on facebook my user name is sabrina.bullock.90…there is no twitter as I don’t tweet

5. What is your favorite time of day?   Night is my favorite time of day because I love the moonlight and stars.

6. What was your favorite vacation?   My favorite vacation was going to the beach with my daughter for her 18th birthday.

7. What is your favorite physical activity?   It’s a toss up between yoga or swimming.  I love both.

8. What is your favorite non-alcoholic drink?   sweet iced tea

9. What is your favorite flower?   lavender

10. What is your passion?   This is a hard to narrow down question.  I’m passionate about many things :  family, faith, love, writing, reading, and the freedom for women to give birth where they choose (home, birth center, hospital).

One Lovely Blog Award

I just found out this blog has been nominated for the One Lovely Blog Award by Susan over at her Women Making Strides blog.  Thank you very much!  When you get a chance, pop on over and check out her blog.  It’s inspiring.  I especially like her Eyes of Faith post from back in July about looking at our circumstances differently.  It’s something I’m continually trying to work on and need to take to heart.
